Following a four-hour disruption earlier on Monday, Starknet announced that its services have been completely restored. However, the platform warned that certain transactions submitted during a brief period may not have been processed correctly.
The team behind the Ethereum layer-2 network confirmed on social media that Starknet is now fully operational. They noted that transactions sent between 9:24 a.m. and 9:42 a.m.
UTC might have been impacted. A comprehensive review, including a detailed timeline, root cause analysis, and measures to prevent such incidents in the future, will be released later.
Such outages can have far-reaching consequences across decentralized finance and other blockchain applications, resulting in stalled swaps, delayed withdrawals, and difficulty in updating positions. They can also disrupt sequencer-based networks, which rely on a smaller set of operators for transaction ordering and block production compared to Ethereum. Attempts were made to contact the team for comment, but a response was not received in time for publication. According to CoinMarketCap, the price of Starknet's native token, STRK, has seen minimal change, with a 1.92% increase over the last 24 hours.
UPDATE (JAN 5, 2026 - 16:11 UTC): The story has been updated to reflect that the outage has ended.
