Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao, the founder of Binance, may be released from prison two days ahead of schedule, on Friday, based on the interpretation of a law governing the release of inmates. The US Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Prisons states that inmates whose release dates coincide with a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday may be released on the preceding weekday, provided there are no other reasons for detention. This decision is subject to the discretion of prison authorities. Following a guilty plea for violating the Bank Secrecy Act by failing to implement adequate customer verification measures at Binance, CZ was sentenced to four months in prison.

If released on Friday, he will have served 116 days. After spending three months in a low-security facility in California, CZ was transferred to a halfway house in late August.

A Binance spokesperson expressed delight at the prospect of CZ's return home, noting that the company has continued to flourish under its current leadership, surpassing 230 million global users.
