The prosecution has requested an 18-month prison term for Heather Morgan, also known as 'Razzlekhan', for her involvement in laundering 120,000 stolen bitcoins from the 2016 Bitfinex hack. Morgan pleaded guilty to money laundering conspiracy and conspiracy to defraud the United States in August 2023, both carrying a maximum sentence of five years.

Although initially believed to have only laundered the hack proceeds, her husband Ilya Lichtenstein later admitted to being the mastermind behind the hack and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering. According to court documents, Lichtenstein carried out the hack alone and only involved Morgan four years later, making her an accessory to the crime.

Prosecutors have suggested a lenient sentence due to Morgan's early acceptance of responsibility and substantial assistance to law enforcement, as well as her minimal use of the stolen funds. However, they also noted that Morgan attempted to obstruct justice by destroying evidence on several occasions. In addition to the prison term, prosecutors have requested that Morgan return the seized cryptocurrencies, valued at over $6 billion, as restitution to Bitfinex.
