The deadline for cryptocurrency exchanges to comply with the necessary licensing requirements and become authorized Physical Crypto Asset Traders has been extended by Indonesia's Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency, Bappebti, to the end of November. This move follows regulatory updates announced on October 18, which mandate that exchanges form alliances with local government entities and implement Know Your Transactions protocols to maintain compliance.

Indonesia first introduced regulations in 2019, requiring crypto exchanges to obtain authorization to continue operating. More recently, the country launched a national crypto asset exchange in 2023, classifying crypto assets as commodities, and obliging exchanges to register with the platform. This initiative aims to enhance investor safety and facilitate the tracking of digital transactions for tax purposes. According to recent reports, 30 crypto exchanges have submitted license applications, with several, including Tokocrypto, Binance's Indonesian subsidiary, already having secured full licenses.
