Singapore's central bank, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), is set to launch initiatives aimed at driving the adoption of tokenization in the financial sector. These measures include establishing commercial networks to enhance liquidity for tokenized assets, developing market infrastructure, creating industry-wide frameworks for tokenized assets, and facilitating access to shared settlement facilities.

According to Leong Sing Chiong, MAS Deputy Managing Director (Markets and Development), there has been significant interest in asset tokenization in recent years, particularly in fixed income, FX, and asset management. He expressed encouragement at the active participation of financial institutions and policymakers in co-creating industry standards and risk management frameworks to support the commercial deployment of tokenized capital markets products. MAS's crypto-focused group, Project Guardian, has also released two frameworks for the adoption and implementation of tokenized assets by financial institutions. Project Guardian comprises 40 financial institutions, industry associations, and policymakers from seven jurisdictions.

The Guardian Fixed Income Framework provides guidelines for implementing tokenization in debt capital markets, aiming to enhance capabilities and accelerate the adoption of tokenized fixed income solutions. In addition, the Guardian Funds Framework offers recommendations for industry best practices regarding tokenized funds, including provisions for developing tokenized investment vehicles that comprise multiple assets.
