The Osmosis decentralized exchange, built on the Cosmos blockchain, has established a bridge to the Bitcoin network. This development is part of the platform's strategic shift towards the world's most valuable cryptocurrency. Following a DAO-governed vote in June, the integration with Nomic's Bitcoin bridge became operational.

The Nomic bridge enables users to deposit their Bitcoin in exchange for an alloyed BTC token on the Osmosis platform. By leveraging Nomic's decentralized custody engine and offering zero-fee transactions, Osmosis aims to provide a decentralized Bitcoin exchange experience. The project seeks to combine the user experience of centralized exchanges with the benefits of decentralized custody. As one of several initiatives attempting to tap into Bitcoin's vast market capitalization, Osmosis aims to bring liquidity to the broader cryptocurrency market.

With Bitcoin's dominance reaching 60% of the total crypto market last month, the potential for growth is substantial. Aggarwal expressed his optimism about Bitcoin's dominance, stating, "I'm bullish on bitcoin dominance.

That's the biggest market and so we want to take a big chunk of it." He views Osmosis as a DEX for assets lacking native exchanges, such as those built on the Cosmos stack. With a 95% share of DEXs in the Cosmos ecosystem, Osmosis is poised to expand its strategy to include Bitcoin as a core component.
