ZBD, a fintech company leveraging the Bitcoin Lightning network for payment solutions, has announced that it has secured approval from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) for a MiCA license from the European Union. Upon the license being granted on December 30, when MiCA comes into effect, ZBD will be authorized to provide an array of crypto-related services, including custody and exchange, across the EU.
The company, previously known as Zebedee, initially submitted its application in April, with the AFM set to publish a list of successful applicants on its website once MiCA is implemented. The Netherlands is among the EU countries proactively preparing businesses for the upcoming MiCA regulations, while several other nations are still in the process of enacting the necessary legislation to facilitate MiCA's enforcement within their territories.
