Konstantin Lomashuk, founder of the Lido staking protocol, has hinted at establishing a 'Second Foundation' to drive Ethereum's ecosystem forward. This development comes as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin outlines plans to restructure the Ethereum Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting Ethereum's development, in a bid to streamline decision-making and address inefficiencies. Buterin's plans, shared on social media, have sparked criticism, with some arguing that his central role undermines Ethereum's decentralized ethos.

The Ethereum Foundation has faced scrutiny for its centralizing influence and pressure to define a clearer vision for Ethereum's future, especially with competing networks like Solana gaining ground. Lomashuk, who has voiced concerns about the Ethereum Foundation's direction, suggested the 'Second Foundation' concept to foster competition and give the community a choice.

He believes that without competition, the risk of losing the right path is significant. Lomashuk's representatives have not commented, but a prominent Ethereum developer close to him confirmed that the 'Second Foundation' proposal is genuine, aiming to create an open and inclusive entity focused on scaling Ethereum more efficiently. As the founder of Lido, a protocol allowing users to pool their ETH for staking, Lomashuk's influence is substantial, with Lido accounting for around 28% of Ethereum's staked ETH. His potential 'Second Foundation' raises questions about the dynamics between this new entity and the existing Ethereum Foundation as the network evolves.
