Movement Labs, a blockchain company, has launched a developer mainnet as part of its efforts to integrate Facebook's Move Virtual Machine (MoveVM) with Ethereum. The mainnet's launch marks the beginning of the deployment of Movement's core infrastructure, enabling selected partners to start building decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, according to a statement released on Tuesday. This launch follows the initial mainnet launch in December and precedes the upcoming public mainnet beta release scheduled for next month.

Originally developed as part of Facebook's discontinued digital currency project Diem, the Move technology has been utilized to create the Sui and Aptos layer-1 networks. With the support of a $38 million Series A funding round led by Polychain Capital, Movement Labs is expanding the Move programming language to an Ethereum layer 2 for the first time. In conjunction with the public mainnet's deployment, Movement will also introduce a multi-asset liquidity program aimed at providing the necessary foundation for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.
