The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, under the leadership of Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda, has unveiled its newly appointed executive staff, including three key members of the agency's Crypto Task Force. Two of the appointees, Richard Gabbert and Taylor Asher, are internal promotions, with Gabbert serving as chief of staff and senior advisor to Uyeda, and Asher as chief policy advisor.
Landon Zinda, who previously worked as policy director for the crypto think tank Coin Center and for crypto-friendly congressmen, joins as counsel to Uyeda and senior advisor to the task force. The Crypto Task Force was established to develop a clear regulatory framework for crypto assets, working closely with Congress, the crypto industry, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. This move marks a shift in the SEC's approach to crypto regulation, moving away from 'regulation by enforcement' towards a more comprehensive framework, aiming to provide clarity and support innovation in the industry.
