Solving Ethereum's Fragmentation Issue
The Ethereum ecosystem has reached a critical juncture. Over the past four years, the introduction of Layer-2 solutions, rollups, and technological advancements have significantly improved scalability, increasing transaction capacity from 15 per second to thousands, while reducing costs from $50 per swap to a few cents. However, this success has also led to an unexpected challenge: fragmentation. With numerous Layer-2 solutions and more in development, Ethereum has become a complex maze of isolated chains, making it difficult for users to navigate and perform basic actions. The ERC-7683 standard, proposed by Across and Uniswap Labs, aims to address this issue by enabling Web3 apps to execute complex cross-chain transactions as a single user request, simplifying the user experience and facilitating seamless interactions across the Ethereum ecosystem.
