Despite initial optimism, the crypto investment sector has yet to experience the anticipated boost from the Trump administration, according to a report by the Crypto Insight Group. The report states that the momentum remains positive but slower than expected, with net inflows continuing but at a pace that lags behind early-year projections.
The Trump administration's seemingly pro-crypto stance had sparked hopes of increased regulatory clarity, but this clarity may not materialize as quickly as anticipated. Laura Vidiella del Blanco, head of investor relations for digital assets at VanEck, noted that the first few months of 2025 brought surprises that have influenced allocators' sense of urgency. The report highlights that the unveiling of aggressive tariff plans by President Trump led to volatility in financial markets, affecting crypto as much as other asset classes. Despite this, the overall sentiment from fund managers towards the Trump administration is constructive, with over half expecting more positive surprises than negative ones in the next 12 months.
Managers anticipate potential upside surprises, including clearer token classifications and stablecoin legislation, which could accelerate institutional adoption of crypto.
