Natix, a decentralized physical infrastructure network focused on mapping data on the Solana blockchain, has announced a collaboration with Grab, a prominent taxi service in southeast Asia. This partnership seeks to leverage Grab's mapping technology to expand Natix's footprint into the US and European markets. Grab will utilize Natix's data collection capabilities, while Natix will benefit from Grab's hardware and software technologies for mapmaking. According to Alireza Ghods, co-founder of Natix, 'We handle the data collection aspect, and we essentially monetize this together.' The collaboration will enable Grab to expand its presence in the US and Europe, while Natix will gain access to advanced mapping technologies.
DePIN, a blockchain-based system, crowdsources real-world infrastructure data and verifies it through decentralized technologies. Natix, a project within Solana's DePIN ecosystem, allows users to contribute street data and mapping visuals via their smartphones, with the crowdsourced data used to build decentralized maps.
These maps can be utilized by AI models, particularly for autonomous driving and smart city applications. Users are incentivized to participate in the network by being rewarded with Natix's native token, $NATIX.
Ghods emphasized that the partnership was formed due to the potential of combining DePIN with established enterprise-grade technology, stating, 'I think it's one of the few sectors in crypto that really makes sense.'
