The cryptocurrency company World Liberty Financial, linked to the Trump family, is fighting back against an investigation launched by US Senator Richard Blumenthal, the top Democrat on a committee focused on corruption and mismanagement. In a letter to the senator, the company's lawyers stated that WLFI is 'building a next-generation, auditable financial infrastructure rooted in American trust, rule of law, and economic leadership' and is 'not operating in the shadows'. Blumenthal had written to the company's co-founder Zach Witkoff, inquiring about the ownership and investment structure of Trump-affiliated entities, including WLFI and Fight Fight Fight LLC.
However, WLFI's response claimed that the senator's request 'contains inaccuracies and fundamentally flawed inferences' and provided an example, stating that the company has no affiliation with Fight Fight Fight LLC. The company emphasized its commitment to innovation and oversight, opposing the misuse of regulatory authority to stifle lawful innovation. Eric Trump, the president's son and a Web3 ambassador for WLFI, recently spoke at Consensus 2025, discussing his entry into the crypto space and his plans to launch a mining firm.
The Trump family's involvement in the crypto industry has also been a point of contention among Senate Democrats, who are currently debating digital asset legislation.
