The investigative team responsible for probing President Javier Milei's ties to the LIBRA cryptocurrency has been disbanded after submitting its discoveries to the prosecutor's office. A decree issued by the Ministry of Justice on Monday, signed by Milei and Justice Minister Mariano Cúneo Libarona, stated that the Unidad de Tareas de Investigación (UTI) had achieved its goal. The unit collaborated with various government agencies during its inquiry, including the Argentine central bank and the anti-corruption office.
In February, Milei tweeted about LIBRA, a Solana-based cryptocurrency, which led to a brief surge in its market capitalization to $4.5 billion before it plummeted over 80% in a matter of hours. LIBRA's co-creator, Hayden Davies, had previously asserted that he could exert influence over Milei due to payments made to the President's sister, Karina, a key figure in Milei's administration.
