Hyunsu Jung, CEO of Hyperion DeFi, describes Hyperliquid as 'the AWS for finance,' emphasizing its role as a layer-one blockchain infrastructure that provides liquidity and execution, allowing builders to focus on the user interface and experience. Similar to AWS, builders maintain control over their users and interface while Hyperliquid handles the underlying liquidity and execution. The 'builder codes' enable integrators to charge fees based on the notional size of their users' trades without needing to develop or maintain the backend or liquidity. MetaMask's product manager, Matthieu Saint Olive, highlights the advantages of this integration, including the ability to leverage Hyperliquid's expertise in matching orders and providing high-quality liquidity and execution. By routing orders directly to Hyperliquid's order book, MetaMask offers its users some of the best liquidity and execution quality available. The partnership has also led to growth beyond crypto, with MetaMask seeing increased interest in commodities and equities. In terms of fees, MetaMask charges a transparent, flat 0.1% builder fee, with no hidden spreads or execution costs. This transparency is seen as a significant advantage, with the company exploring innovative pricing models to further enhance the user experience. Another notable example of Hyperliquid's integration is with the South African exchange VALR, which has opted to utilize Hyperliquid's perps order book for its liquidity requirements. Despite initially building its own infrastructure for perpetual futures, VALR's CEO, Farzam Ehsani, acknowledged the challenges in achieving sufficient volume and liquidity. By partnering with Hyperliquid, VALR can now offer its customers access to a more liquid and vibrant market. Looking ahead, as major exchanges like Robinhood and Coinbase expand their offerings to include perps, opportunities for cross-venue arbitrage will emerge, according to Jung.
