Plume, a blockchain platform specializing in integrating real-world assets into the DeFi ecosystem, has officially launched its highly anticipated Genesis mainnet. According to the Plume team, this launch signifies a major leap forward in the evolution of DeFi, enabling the tokenization of traditional financial instruments and real-world assets, thereby allowing them to interact seamlessly with blockchain-based financial tools. The market for real-world assets has experienced rapid growth, with projections suggesting it could be worth trillions of dollars, as traditional financial institutions increasingly explore crypto.

At launch, Plume has already established partnerships with financial giants such as Blackstone and Invesco, with over $150 million in utilized real-world assets, as well as collaborations with prominent DeFi platforms like Curve and Morpho. The Plume team highlighted that through their platform, tokens backed by real-world assets can be used just like native crypto tokens, allowing for effortless integration of high-yielding assets into familiar DeFi applications such as lending, liquidity provision, yield farming, and leveraged positions. Following a successful Series A fundraising round in December, where Plume raised $20 million and onboarded $4 billion into its ecosystem, the team is poised to introduce additional asset classes and use cases for real-world assets in the coming months, including tokenized art, precious metals, uranium, and trading cards.
