In a significant push towards multichain interoperability, Ripple has integrated Wormhole, a prominent cross-chain messaging protocol, with the XRP Ledger and its Ethereum-compatible sidechain. This development, announced on Thursday, is designed to cater to institutional demands for seamless crypto asset transfers, including stablecoins and tokenized assets, across various blockchain networks without added friction. The integration of Wormhole enables the transfer of XRP and other tokens across over 35 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche.

Furthermore, developers can leverage Wormhole's infrastructure to initiate cross-chain smart contract interactions. According to Ripple, this upgrade will facilitate the development of multichain applications that emphasize compliance, low costs, and fast settlement. Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz, emphasized the importance of interoperability for mass adoption, stating that infrastructure must support multiple chains. This integration sets the stage for tokens issued on the XRP Ledger to move between blockchain networks while maintaining native issuance and control.

The XRP Ledger is increasingly positioning itself as a hub for institutional and tokenized real-world assets, such as real estate, with Dubai's first real estate tokenization platform built on XRPL. Ripple also issues a regulated stablecoin, Ripple USD, with a $400 million supply across XRP and Ethereum chains.
