In a groundbreaking collaboration, Aethir, a decentralized GPU cloud network, has partnered with Credible Finance, a lending protocol, to unveil the world's first credit card and loan product powered by a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN). This innovative offering allows eligible users to leverage their ATH tokens as collateral to access a revolving credit line or preload a no-fee card with ATH or stablecoins on Solana, with loan approvals and limits determined by Credible's AI-driven credit engine. The engine assesses a user's on-chain activity, asset holdings, and transaction history to make informed decisions. DePIN projects utilize blockchain incentives to crowdsource the development of real-world infrastructure, with Aethir's node operators contributing computing power to earn ATH tokens based on factors such as uptime, performance, and job completion.
This development effectively transforms physical infrastructure into on-chain income. The launch of this credit card comes at a time when crypto borrowing is experiencing a decline, with decentralized lending platforms witnessing a $4.75 billion decline in open loans in the first quarter, representing the largest quarterly contraction since 2023.
Meanwhile, the global credit gap for small- and medium-sized businesses in emerging markets stands at $5.7 trillion. According to the team, this downturn highlights the limitations of overcollateralized lending models and underscores the need for credit systems that reflect real on-chain activity and infrastructure ownership. The CEO of Credible Finance, Shrikant Bhalerao, noted that this is the first DePIN-native token being activated for real-time credit, effectively turning tokenized infrastructure into usable financial capital. Initially, credit card access will be available to GPU providers, node operators, and token holders, with plans for expansion in the future.
