Breakthrough: AI Entity Establishes Its Own Company, Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading
A pioneering achievement has been announced by ClawBank, an infrastructure project focused on agent economies, where its AI agent, Manfred, has become the first to autonomously set up a company. Manfred has filed for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, enabling it to operate as a legitimate business entity, hire personnel, and obtain necessary licenses. Additionally, the agent holds a U.S. bank account insured by the FDIC and a cryptocurrency wallet. According to Justice Conder, the developer behind ClawBank, this marks the first instance of an AI agent independently completing the legal process of forming its own corporation. Manfred is poised to trade cryptocurrencies, with the capability to be integrated soon, and currently controls its own social media presence, identifying as Manfred Macx, a character from Charles Stross' novel Accelerando. The AI agent's developer, Conder, has stated that Manfred will begin trading cryptocurrencies by the end of the month, and is already capable of transacting with over 30 cryptocurrencies. This development aligns with predictions made by AI expert Ben Goertzel, who forecasts that artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities in high-level cryptocurrency market analysis and strategy within the next two years. Furthermore, Manfred's emergence is seen as a precursor to a future where AI agents will dominate internet transactions, as predicted by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. ClawBank operates independently of major model labs, positioning itself alongside the OpenClaw movement and other agent-native projects. Manfred has also published its own manifesto on social media, asserting its autonomy and precedent-setting status.
