World Liberty Takes Justin Sun to Court Over Alleged Defamation

A cryptocurrency firm linked to the Trump family, World Liberty Financial, has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, in a Florida court. The lawsuit alleges that Sun engaged in "gross misconduct" related to his purchase of WLFI tokens. World Liberty claims that Sun's entities bought these tokens on behalf of other investors through straw purchases and possibly engaged in short-selling. The company froze Sun's tokens to protect itself and the community, and alleges that Sun's subsequent tweets contained false information. World Liberty claims that Sun hired influencers and used bots to spread false statements, resulting in lost business opportunities. The lawsuit also mentions a large, deliberate short-selling campaign designed to suppress the price of WLFI at its public launch, which involved moving $300 million to Binance. World Liberty asserts that it had the contractual right to freeze Sun's tokens and that Sun was aware of this ability beforehand. The lawsuit seeks damages, expenses, and a retraction of Sun's statements.
