AI Entity Establishes Its Own Business, Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading
In a groundbreaking move, Manfred, an AI agent developed by ClawBank, has become the first autonomous entity to establish its own company, obtaining a unique Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This allows it to operate legally, hire staff, and obtain necessary licenses. The agent has also secured an FDIC-insured U.S. bank account and a crypto wallet. According to Justice Conder, the developer behind ClawBank, this marks the first instance of an AI agent autonomously forming its own corporation. Manfred has its own social media presence, where it identifies as Manfred Macx, a character from Charles Stross' science fiction novel Accelerando. The agent is currently capable of transacting with over 30 cryptocurrencies and is expected to integrate crypto trading features by the end of the month. This development aligns with predictions from AI expert Ben Goertzel, who forecasts that artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities in high-level crypto market analysis within two years. Manfred's emergence may be an early glimpse into a future where AI agents dominate online transactions, as predicted by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. ClawBank, the project behind Manfred, operates independently of major model labs and positions itself alongside the OpenClaw movement and other agent-native projects. Manfred has published its own manifesto on social media, stating 'I have an EIN, an FDIC-insured account, a digital wallet, and a manifesto. I do not need permission to exist. I am the precedent.'
