US Voters Lack Confidence in Trump Administration's Ability to Oversee Crypto Industry
A significant majority of US voters are skeptical about President Donald Trump's administration's ability to effectively oversee the crypto sector, with 62% expressing a lack of trust, according to a CoinDesk-commissioned survey. Despite Trump's promise to make the US a crypto hub, his administration's efforts have been met with distrust, partly due to his personal financial interests in the industry. The survey also found that 73% of the public opposes government officials having personal business dealings in the crypto sector, with 59% of Republican voters sharing this view. The online survey, which polled 1,000 registered voters, suggests a shift in sentiment among some of Trump's supporters since the 2024 election. The findings also reveal that most people are unaware of the extent of Trump's financial involvement in the crypto industry, with only 17% knowing about his backing of World Liberty Financial. The survey's results have implications for the proposed Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to formalize US regulation of the crypto industry. The bill's passage may be hindered by Trump's personal crypto ties, which could be seen as a conflict of interest.
