World Liberty Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Justin Sun

A cryptocurrency firm with ties to former US President Donald Trump has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Tron founder Justin Sun in a Florida court. The lawsuit, filed by World Liberty Financial, claims that Sun engaged in 'gross misconduct' related to his purchase of WLFI tokens. This move comes after Sun filed his own lawsuit against World Liberty in a California federal court, alleging that the company had unfairly restricted his ability to transfer his tokens. According to the lawsuit, entities connected to Sun allegedly bought WLFI tokens on behalf of other investors through straw purchases and may have participated in short-selling the token. World Liberty claims that it froze Sun's tokens to protect itself and the broader community, citing that Sun's tweets about the frozen tokens contained false or defamatory information. The company also alleges that Sun hired influencers and used bots to spread false information, resulting in lost business opportunities. A significant portion of the lawsuit has been redacted, including details about Sun's token purchase and alleged misconduct. However, it is alleged that Sun's misconduct involved a deliberate short-selling campaign aimed at suppressing the price of $WLFI at its public launch, which is linked to the transfer of $300 million to Binance from Sun-affiliated wallets. The lawsuit states that upon discovering these violations, World Liberty exercised its contractual rights to freeze Sun's tokens, preventing further harm to the company and the $WLFI community. It is claimed that Sun was aware of the agreements' terms and knew that World Liberty had the power to restrict token transferability. The lawsuit alleges defamation and seeks damages, expenses, and the retraction of Sun's statements.
