World Liberty Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Justin Sun

A cryptocurrency firm linked to the Trump family, World Liberty Financial, has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Tron's founder, Justin Sun, in a Florida court. The lawsuit claims that Sun engaged in 'gross misconduct' related to his purchase of WLFI tokens. This move comes after Sun filed a lawsuit against World Liberty in a California federal court, alleging that the company had unfairly restricted his ability to transfer his WLFI tokens. World Liberty's lawsuit accuses Sun and his entities of buying WLFI tokens on behalf of other investors through straw purchases and potentially engaging in short-selling of the token. The company claims it froze Sun's tokens to protect itself and the broader community, stating that Sun's subsequent tweets contained false or defamatory information. According to the lawsuit, Sun hired influencers and used bots to spread false information, resulting in lost business opportunities for World Liberty. The lawsuit also mentions a 'large, deliberate, short-selling campaign' allegedly designed to suppress the price of $WLFI at its public launch, tied to the movement of $300 million to Binance by Sun-affiliated wallets. World Liberty claims it acted within its contractual rights to freeze Sun's tokens upon discovering these violations. The lawsuit seeks damages, expenses, and a retraction of Sun's statements, alleging that he was aware of the agreements' terms and the power to restrict token transferability.
