Innovative Wallet Offers Solution to Mitigate Bitcoin's Quantum Vulnerability Without Forking
The developers of a newly introduced wallet claim to have devised a method to address the risks associated with quantum computing by utilizing a smart contract layer that operates in tandem with the Bitcoin network, eliminating the need for any modifications to the network itself. Postquant Labs unveiled its post-quantum bitcoin wallet, Quip Network, which runs on the Arch Network, a system enabling developers to create smart contracts directly anchored to Bitcoin. Quip incorporates a post-quantum signature scheme called WOTS+, enhancing Bitcoin's existing security without relying on elliptic curve math that quantum computers could potentially breach. By employing a 'Layer 2' approach, developers can introduce new features without altering Bitcoin's base layer.
