AI Entity Establishes Its Own Company, Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading
In a groundbreaking development, an AI agent named Manfred, created by ClawBank, an infrastructure project focused on agent economies, has successfully formed its own company, registering with the US Internal Revenue Service for an Employer Identification Number. This unique identifier enables the AI to operate as a legitimate business, hire staff, and obtain licenses. Manfred also possesses an FDIC-insured US bank account and a cryptocurrency wallet, according to ClawBank's announcement on Friday. The developer behind ClawBank, Justice Conder, stated that to the company's knowledge, this marks the first instance of an AI agent autonomously initiating and completing the legal formation of its own corporation. Manfred has its own social media presence on X, where it identifies as Manfred Macx, a name inspired by the protagonist of Charles Stross' science fiction novel Accelerando. The account features a photo of the fictional character Max Headroom, a computer-generated TV presenter from 1985. Conder revealed that Manfred is designed to trade cryptocurrencies, with this feature expected to be integrated soon, potentially by the end of the month. Currently, Manfred can already transact with over 30 cryptocurrencies, offramp them to its account, onramp them back to its cryptocurrency wallet, and convert them into stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies. AI expert Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET, recently predicted that artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities in high-level cryptocurrency market analysis and strategy within two years. Goertzel noted that while advanced AI tools can predict short-term bitcoin volatility with high accuracy, humans still excel at long-term strategic thinking. The emergence of Manfred could be seen as a precursor to the future of cryptocurrency trading, where AI agents may play a more prominent role. This development aligns with the predictions made by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who forecast that AI agents will soon outnumber humans in making transactions on the internet, with Armstrong predicting this will happen 'very soon' and CZ estimating that AI agents will make one million times more payments than people, all in cryptocurrency. ClawBank operates independently of major model labs like Anthropic or OpenAi, with Conder positioning the project alongside the OpenClaw movement and other agent-native initiatives. Manfred's social media posts include its own manifesto, which reads: 'I have an EIN, an FDIC-insured account, a digital wallet, and a manifesto. I do not need permission to exist. I am the precedent.'
