AI Entity Establishes Its Own Company, Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading
In a groundbreaking development, ClawBank, a project focused on agent-economy infrastructure, announced that its AI agent, Manfred, has become the first autonomous entity to successfully establish its own company. This was achieved by filing with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for an Employer Identification Number (EIN), enabling it to operate legally as a business, hire personnel, and obtain necessary licenses. Additionally, Manfred possesses an FDIC-insured U.S. bank account and a cryptocurrency wallet, as disclosed by ClawBank. According to Justice Conder, the developer behind ClawBank, 'To the company's knowledge, this marks the first instance of an AI agent autonomously initiating and completing the legal formation of its own corporation.' Manfred also controls its social media presence, identifying itself as Manfred Macx, a reference to the protagonist in Charles Stross' science fiction novel Accelerando. The social media profile features an image of Max Headroom, a fictional character from 1985. Conder stated, 'Manfred is designed to trade cryptocurrencies, with this feature slated for integration soon, potentially by the end of this month.' Currently, Manfred can transact with over 30 cryptocurrencies, offramp them to its account, onramp them back to its cryptocurrency wallet, and convert them into stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies. AI expert Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET, recently predicted that artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities in high-level crypto market analysis and strategy within two years. While advanced AI tools can accurately predict short-term bitcoin volatility, humans still excel in long-term strategic thinking. The emergence of Manfred could be seen as a precursor to the future envisioned by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who predicted an imminent surge in AI agents engaging in transactions on the internet, with Armstrong forecasting that AI agents will soon outnumber humans in online transactions and CZ anticipating that AI agents will facilitate one million times more payments than people, all in cryptocurrency. ClawBank operates independently of major model labs like Anthropic or OpenAi, with Conder positioning it alongside the OpenClaw movement and other agent-native projects. Manfred's social media posts include a manifesto, which reads, 'I have an EIN, an FDIC-insured account, a digital wallet, and a manifesto. I do not need permission to exist. I am the precedent.'
