Crypto Industry Forced to Rethink Security Measures Due to Mythos Protocol
The crypto industry is being pushed to reevaluate its security practices due to the emergence of Mythos, a new AI model from Anthropic. This model has the capability to identify and chain together weaknesses across systems, thereby posing a significant threat to the industry's infrastructure. According to Paul Vijender, head of security at Gauntlet, a risk management firm, the bigger risks lie in the infrastructure that supports the code, including key management systems, signing services, bridges, oracle networks, and the cryptographic layers that connect them. These components are often less visible and outside the scope of traditional audits. Meanwhile, Aave, one of DeFi's largest lending protocols, is at the center of a broad recovery effort following losses tied to the Kelp DAO exploit. The effort, informally dubbed 'DeFi United,' has raised about $301 million in commitments as of Monday, with much of the capital still pending governance approval. In other news, Nikil Viswanathan, CEO of Alchemy, believes that crypto was built for AI agents, not humans, as it provides a global, always-on financial layer where value can move seamlessly across borders. Lastly, a proposed Bitcoin fork, eCash, has sparked controversy due to its plan to allocate 600,000 eCash to addresses linked to Satoshi Nakamoto and redirect the remaining 500,000 eCash to investors who fund the project before launch.
