YouTube Expands Payment Options for US Creators with PayPal's Stablecoin

According to a recent report, YouTube has introduced PayPal's stablecoin, PYUSD, as a payment option for its US-based content creators. This development was confirmed by PayPal's head of crypto, who noted that the platform's design allows YouTube to avoid direct involvement with cryptocurrency. The PYUSD payout option was initially introduced by PayPal in the third quarter of 2025, with YouTube opting to offer it exclusively to US creators. This move underscores the growing interest of major tech companies, including Apple and Airbnb, in exploring stablecoins as a means of facilitating payments. The integration of PYUSD by YouTube, a subsidiary of Google, represents one of the most notable examples of PayPal's stablecoin being utilized for creator monetization, thereby expanding its application beyond backend payments to consumer-facing income streams. Introduced in August 2023, PYUSD is designed to facilitate seamless transactions, cross-border payments, and instant settlements within PayPal's ecosystem, with a focus on everyday commerce and mitigating banking delays and volatility risks. Having gained significant traction, PYUSD has garnered support on Visa's stablecoin settlement platform and has become the sixth-largest stablecoin, boasting a market capitalization of $3.9 billion, as per data from CoinGecko. At the time of writing, both PayPal and Google had not responded to requests for comment.
