DeFi Leaders Unite to Support Aave Users with Hundreds of Millions in Rescue Plan
The DeFi community has come together to address the recent massive crypto hack, with Aave at the forefront of a broad recovery effort. This initiative, dubbed 'DeFi United,' has secured around $303 million in commitments as of Monday, according to its website, with much of the capital pending governance approval. The response has been prompted by the Kelp DAO exploit, which has created risk across lending positions on Aave and impacted rsETH markets. Aave Labs and other key players are working together to allocate capital and credit commitments to support users and restore normal market conditions. Aave itself has proposed allocating up to 250,000 ETH as part of the recovery, while other contributors, including Consensys and its founder Joseph Lubin, have committed to providing financial support. The effort has drawn in a wide range of participants, from smaller community contributions to larger commitments from ecosystem players like Lido, EtherFi, and Compound. The breadth of participation highlights the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi and underscores the importance of coordinated responses to protect users and strengthen the ecosystem.
