Cryptocurrency Takes a Backseat in US Voters' Priorities Ahead of Elections, Survey Reveals
In the lead-up to the US midterm elections, voters have ranked cryptocurrencies as one of their lowest priorities, with just 1% of respondents citing it as their primary concern. The survey, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies on behalf of CoinDesk, found that while crypto may not be a major issue for voters, the industry is still invested in the outcome, with hundreds of millions of dollars dedicated to supporting favorable candidates. The survey also revealed that Americans tend to view cryptocurrencies unfavorably, with 60% of respondents disapproving of US President Donald Trump's performance and 40% somewhat or strongly approving. The cost of living, jobs, and the economy were cited as the most important issues, while crypto ranked at the bottom of the list, particularly among Republican-leaning voters. Interestingly, 27% of respondents said they had invested, traded, or used a cryptocurrency, and 47% believed Republicans were more supportive of cryptocurrencies than Democrats. Despite this, Democrats maintained a slight edge in voter trust in crypto, with 27% of respondents saying they trusted the party more. The survey's findings suggest that while crypto may not be a top priority for voters, it still has a significant presence in the political landscape.
