Alchemy CEO Claims Crypto Was Designed for AI Agents, Not Humans

The existing financial system was created with human limitations in mind, such as geographical constraints, sleep patterns, and physical presence. However, as AI agents become increasingly involved in economic activities, this human-centric design is becoming a hindrance, according to Nikil Viswanathan, co-founder of the crypto firm Alchemy. Viswanathan argues that cryptocurrency was essentially built for AI agents, not humans. The traditional banking system has operating hours and is tied to specific countries due to human needs, whereas AI agents do not require rest, physical presence, or geographical boundaries. As a result, AI agents are inherently global and can conduct transactions online without any restrictions. Viswanathan believes that cryptocurrency is well-suited for AI agents, providing a seamless, global, and programmable financial layer that allows for easy transfer of value. The complexity of cryptocurrency, which can be a challenge for humans, is actually a strength when it comes to AI agents, as they can operate natively in code. Viswanathan predicts that in the future, AI agents will utilize crypto infrastructure to manage complexity, execute transactions, and optimize capital flows in real-time, ultimately creating a more global, programmable, and autonomous financial system.
