Mythos Forces Crypto Industry to Rethink Security Measures
The crypto industry is being driven to reconsider its security practices due to the emergence of Mythos, a new AI model from Anthropic. For years, decentralized finance has focused on defending smart contracts, but Mythos is pushing attention towards the infrastructure that supports it. According to Paul Vijender, head of security at Gauntlet, the bigger risks lie in the infrastructure, including key management systems, signing services, and bridges. This shift in focus has drawn attention beyond crypto, with banks like JP Morgan exploring tools like Mythos for stress testing. Meanwhile, Aave, one of DeFi's largest lending protocols, is at the center of a broad recovery effort following losses tied to the Kelp DAO exploit. The effort, dubbed 'DeFi United,' has raised around $301 million in commitments, with much of the capital still pending governance approval. In other news, the CEO of Alchemy believes that crypto was built for AI agents, not humans, due to its ability to facilitate seamless transactions across borders. Additionally, a proposed Bitcoin fork, eCash, has sparked controversy over its plan to allocate Satoshi Nakamoto's copied coins to investors who fund the project before launch.
