The developers of a newly introduced wallet claim to have devised a method to counter the risks posed by quantum computing using a smart contract layer that operates in conjunction with Bitcoin, eliminating the need for alterations to the network itself. Postquant Labs unveiled the Quip Network's post-quantum bitcoin wallet, which utilizes Arch Network, a system enabling developers to create smart contracts directly anchored to Bitcoin. This approach integrates a post-quantum signature scheme called WOTS+, enhancing Bitcoin's security without relying on elliptic curve math that could be compromised by a quantum computer. By employing a 'Layer 2' network, developers can introduce features without modifying Bitcoin's core layer.
