Crypto Industry Unites to Support Aave Users After Massive Hack

The world of decentralized finance has come together in an unprecedented show of coordination following a major hack that affected Aave, one of DeFi's largest lending protocols. The 'DeFi United' effort has raised approximately $303 million in commitments as of Monday, with much of the capital still pending governance approval. Aave itself is at the forefront of the recovery effort, with a governance proposal outlining a plan to allocate up to 250,000 ETH to support affected users. Other key players in the industry, including Consensys and its founder Joseph Lubin, have also pledged significant support, with Lubin stating that 'DeFi United is exactly that, a broad, coordinated response to protect users and strengthen the infrastructure we've all helped build.' The effort has drawn contributions from across the community, including Lido, EtherFi, and Mantle, with many participants citing long-standing relationships with Aave and a shared priority of supporting users and restoring normal market conditions.
