Alchemy CEO Claims Crypto is Better Suited for AI Agents Than Humans

The current financial system was not designed with machines in mind, but rather was built around human constraints such as geography, sleep patterns, and physical presence. However, as AI agents become more prominent in the economy, this human-centric design is becoming a hindrance, says Alchemy co-founder Nikil Viswanathan. 'One could argue that crypto was built for AI agents, not humans,' Viswanathan stated. The traditional financial system is filled with limitations, such as banking hours and credit card requirements, that are based on human needs. In contrast, AI agents do not sleep, have no physical presence, and can transact globally without restrictions. Viswanathan believes that crypto is the native infrastructure for these AI agents, providing a global and always-on financial layer that allows for seamless transactions. The complexity of crypto, which has long been a barrier for humans, is actually a strength when it comes to machines. Unlike humans, AI agents operate natively in code and can interact with crypto's underlying architecture with ease. Viswanathan compares this shift to the transition from the postal system to the internet, where communication became much faster and more efficient once it was designed for computers. In the future, Viswanathan envisions a financial system where AI agents sit on top of crypto infrastructure, handling complexity and managing transactions automatically. This would result in a more global, programmable, and autonomous financial system, with humans interacting with it through a user-friendly interface.
