New Wallet Offers Solution to Mitigate Bitcoin's Quantum Vulnerability Without Forking

The developers of a newly launched wallet claim to have found a method to address the risks associated with quantum computing by utilizing a smart contract layer that operates in tandem with the Bitcoin network, eliminating the need for any alterations to the network itself. Postquant Labs introduced the Quip Network's post-quantum bitcoin wallet, which operates on the Arch Network, allowing developers to create smart contracts directly anchored to Bitcoin. This approach enables the addition of a post-quantum signature scheme called WOTS+, enhancing Bitcoin's security without relying on elliptic curve math that could be vulnerable to quantum computers. By utilizing a 'Layer 2' network, developers can introduce new features without modifying Bitcoin's core layer.
