Innovative Wallet Offers Solution to Bitcoin's Quantum Vulnerability Without Requiring a Network Fork
The developers of a new wallet claim to have devised a method to mitigate the risks associated with quantum computing using a smart contract layer that operates in conjunction with Bitcoin, eliminating the need for any alterations to the network itself. Postquant Labs introduced the Quip Network's post-quantum Bitcoin wallet, which utilizes Arch Network, a system enabling developers to create smart contracts directly anchored to Bitcoin. This approach allows for the addition of a post-quantum signature scheme called WOTS+, enhancing Bitcoin's security without relying on elliptic curve math that quantum computers could potentially break. By utilizing a 'Layer 2' network, developers can introduce new features without modifying Bitcoin's base layer.
