Financial Giants Flock to Consensus Miami, Marking a New Era in Crypto Adoption
In a significant shift, prominent financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan are set to participate in Consensus Miami 2026, not just as speakers, but also as sponsors. This marks a turning point in the convergence of traditional finance and digital assets. The event, scheduled for May 5-7, will feature a diverse range of speakers, including CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, Senator Ashley Moody, and White House official Patrick Witt, alongside debut sponsors and returning partners like Fidelity and Mastercard. With over 15,000 attendees expected, institutional participation is anticipated to nearly double, representing approximately $10 trillion in assets under management. According to Brad Spies, Vice President of Consensus, "We have reached a moment where finance, crypto, tech, and policy are strongly converging forces." The conference lineup boasts prominent figures such as Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, Strategy's Michael Saylor, and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. Key topics of discussion will include the future of stablecoins, agentic commerce, tokenization, and the implications of quantum computing on the industry. More than 20 sessions will focus on agentic commerce, with a panel titled "The Trillion Dollar Question - What's the Framework for Agentic Payments?" featuring Erik Reppel, founder of Coinbase's payments protocol x402. The event kicks off with the Institutional Summit, where investors and asset managers will convene to discuss the flow of new capital into digital assets. The following day, Wealth Management Day will cater to financial advisors, addressing topics such as engaging high-net-worth individuals with digital assets and providing holistic planning around digital holdings. For the wealth management community, the timing feels urgent, with Christina Lynn of Mariner Wealth Advisors stating, "I see the crypto space as a great opportunity for the wealth management field." Charles Schwab, preparing to launch Schwab Crypto for its retail investors, is formally participating in Consensus for the first time. Matthew Tuttle, leader of leveraged ETF issuer Tuttle Capital Management, is attending to deepen his understanding of stablecoins and tokenization, which he believes are inevitable forces in the fund industry. Tuttle recently filed to launch the T-Strive Digital Credit ETF, which will invest in bitcoin treasury firms' preferred stock, and intends to pay investors 14% per year. His conviction in the space has shifted decisively, stating, "There's so much institutional backing that I don't see how BTC can go to zero anymore."
