The developers of a new wallet claim to have discovered a method to mitigate the risks associated with quantum computing by utilizing a smart contract layer that operates in tandem with Bitcoin, eliminating the need for any modifications to the network itself. Postquant Labs introduced the Quip Network's post-quantum bitcoin wallet, which operates on Arch Network, a system enabling developers to construct smart contracts directly linked to Bitcoin. The Quip wallet employs the WOTS+ post-quantum signature scheme, a tested cryptographic technique that does not rely on elliptic curve math, to enhance Bitcoin's security. By leveraging a 'Layer 2' network, developers can add features without altering Bitcoin's base layer.
