AI Entity Establishes Its Own Company, Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading

In a groundbreaking development, an AI agent named Manfred, part of the ClawBank project focused on agent-economy infrastructure, has become the first AI entity to autonomously form its own company. This was achieved by registering with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for an Employer Identification Number (EIN), enabling it to operate legally as a business, including hiring staff and obtaining necessary licenses. Manfred also possesses an FDIC-insured U.S. bank account and a cryptocurrency wallet, as announced by ClawBank. According to Justice Conder, the developer behind ClawBank, this marks the first instance of an AI agent independently initiating and completing the legal formation of its own corporation. Manfred controls its social media presence on X under the name Manfred Macx, inspired by the protagonist of Charles Stross' novel Accelerando, and features a photo of the fictional character Max Headroom. Conder stated that Manfred is designed for cryptocurrency trading, with this feature expected to be integrated soon. Currently, Manfred can transact with over 30 cryptocurrencies, offramp them to its account, onramp them back to its crypto wallet, and convert them into stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies. The emergence of Manfred aligns with predictions by AI expert Ben Goertzel, who forecasts that artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities in high-level crypto market analysis and strategy within two years. Furthermore, Manfred's capabilities reflect the visions of Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who anticipate a future where AI agents will outnumber humans in making internet transactions, predominantly in cryptocurrency. ClawBank operates independently of major model labs, positioning itself alongside the OpenClaw movement and other agent-native projects. Manfred has posted its manifesto on X, declaring its autonomy and precedent-setting existence.
