Major Players in the Crypto Industry Unite to Support Aave Users with a Massive Rescue Plan

In the often-fragmented world of decentralized finance, crises have a way of revealing underlying fault lines. However, the recent massive crypto hack has also brought to light an unprecedented level of coordination among industry leaders. Aave, one of the largest lending protocols in DeFi, is at the forefront of a broad recovery effort following significant losses tied to the Kelp DAO exploit. The effort, dubbed 'DeFi United,' has garnered approximately $303 million in commitments as of Monday, according to its website, with much of the capital pending governance approval. The exploit has prompted a far-reaching industry response, with many participants providing financial support to restore normal market conditions. At the core of the effort is Aave itself, with a governance proposal outlining a plan to allocate up to 250,000 ETH as part of the recovery. Other key contributors include Aave's founder, Stani Kulechov, who has pledged 5,000 ETH, as well as Emilio Frangella, Ernesto Boado, BGD Labs, and Marcelo Ruiz de Orlano. The response has also extended beyond Aave, with Consensys and its founder, Joseph Lubin, committing up to 30,000 ETH in financial support. Sharplink has played a strategic advisory role in the discussions. Furthermore, Lido, EtherFi, Mantle, and Compound have all proposed various forms of support, including credit facilities and proposals to allocate significant amounts of stETH and ETH. Other entities, such as Babylon Foundation, Renzo, Circle Ventures, Avalanche Foundation, Solana Foundation, and Justin Sun, have also made significant contributions. The list of participants continues to grow, with entities like Ethena, LayerZero, Frax Finance, and Ink Foundation providing support. The breadth of participation underscores the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi. As the Ethereum ecosystem moves together to respond to the crisis, it is clear that the industry is prioritizing user support and market stability.
