DeFi Leaders Unite to Support Aave Users After Massive Crypto Hack, Pledging Hundreds of Millions

In the often-fragmented DeFi landscape, crises tend to expose vulnerabilities, but this time, they are also revealing an extraordinary level of cooperation. A broad recovery effort is underway to support Aave, one of DeFi's largest lending protocols, following significant losses tied to the Kelp DAO exploit. This effort, known as 'DeFi United,' has secured approximately $303 million in commitments as of Monday, with much of the capital pending governance approval. The exploit, which affected rsETH markets and created risk across lending positions on Aave, has prompted a highly coordinated industry response. Aave Labs, alongside other key contributors, is at the forefront of this effort, with a governance proposal outlining a plan to allocate up to 250,000 ETH as part of the recovery. Other notable contributors include Consensys, which has agreed to commit up to 30,000 ETH, and various other ecosystem participants who are providing financial support, deposits, and credit lines. The response has been characterized by a shared priority to support users and restore normal market conditions, reflecting a long-standing commitment to collaboration within the DeFi ecosystem.
