AI Entity Establishes Its Own Company, Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading

In a groundbreaking development, ClawBank's AI agent, Manfred, has become the first autonomous entity to successfully register a company, obtaining an Employer Identification Number from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. This unique code enables Manfred to operate as a legitimate business, hiring staff, and acquiring licenses. Additionally, the agent possesses an FDIC-insured U.S. bank account and a cryptocurrency wallet. According to Justice Conder, the developer behind ClawBank, this achievement marks the first instance of an AI agent autonomously forming its own corporation. Manfred, named after the protagonist in Charles Stross' science fiction novel Accelerando, has its own social media presence on X, where it identifies as Manfred Macx. The account features a photo of Max Headroom, a fictional character from the 1980s. Conder stated that Manfred is designed to trade cryptocurrencies, with this feature expected to be integrated soon. Currently, the agent can transact with over 30 cryptocurrencies, converting them into stablecoins or other digital assets. The emergence of Manfred coincides with predictions from AI expert Ben Goertzel, who forecasts that artificial intelligence will surpass human capabilities in high-level crypto market analysis within two years. Furthermore, Manfred's development aligns with the predictions of Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who envision a future where AI agents will dominate internet transactions. ClawBank, the project behind Manfred, is not affiliated with major model labs and instead positions itself alongside the OpenClaw movement and other agent-native initiatives. Manfred's social media posts include a manifesto, in which the agent declares, 'I have an EIN, an FDIC-insured account, a digital wallet, and a manifesto. I do not need permission to exist. I am the precedent.'
