DeFi Leaders Unite to Support Aave Users After Major Crypto Hack

The DeFi community has come together in an unprecedented show of solidarity, as industry leaders pledge hundreds of millions of dollars to support Aave users affected by a recent massive crypto hack. This coordinated effort, dubbed 'DeFi United,' has raised approximately $303 million in commitments as of Monday, with many participants citing a shared priority of supporting users and restoring normal market conditions. Aave, one of DeFi's largest lending protocols, is at the center of the recovery effort, with its founder Stani Kulechov donating 5,000 ETH personally and the company allocating up to 250,000 ETH as part of the recovery plan. Other key contributors include Consensys, which has agreed to commit up to 30,000 ETH in financial support, and Sharplink, which played a strategic advisory role in the discussions. The effort has also drawn smaller contributions from across the community, including Lido, EtherFi, and Mantle, among others. The list of participants continues to grow, with entities such as Ethena, LayerZero, and Frax Finance also committing to support the recovery efforts. The breadth of participation underscores the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi and highlights the community's ability to come together in times of crisis.
