Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for $700 Million in Tokenized Equities
In a bid to enhance its tokenized equities platform, Ondo Finance has introduced proxy voting, allowing investors to participate in corporate decision-making processes. This feature, developed in collaboration with Broadridge Financial Solutions, enables holders of over 250 tokenized securities to review company documents and cast their votes via Broadridge's ProxyVote system. By logging in with their crypto wallets, investors can now access tools and documents typically reserved for traditional brokerage accounts. The introduction of proxy voting is a significant step forward for tokenized equities, which have experienced rapid growth and now hold over $1.1 billion in value. As the largest issuer in this sector, with over $700 million in tokenized stocks and ETFs on its Global Markets platform, Ondo is committed to providing its investors with a more comprehensive and traditional investment experience. The addition of proxy voting addresses a significant gap in governance rights, enabling investors to express their preferences, which Ondo can then apply when voting on the underlying shares. According to Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, this development aligns with the company's vision of making traditional financial assets more accessible and benefiting from the advantages of blockchain technology. Broadridge, a leading processor of proxy votes in traditional markets, is extending its infrastructure to support blockchain-based systems, aiming to provide a seamless experience for both digital and conventional assets. By offering the same level of transparency, auditability, and compliance, Broadridge believes that this move will increase investor trust and contribute to the scalability of the tokenized ecosystem.
