Trump Advocates for Crypto Legislation at Exclusive Event with Mike Tyson and Tether CEO
On Saturday, a select group of $TRUMP memecoin holders attended an exclusive event at President Trump's Florida club, where he cautioned bankers against hindering the progress of crypto legislation. During his speech at the private Mar-a-Lago gathering in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump reiterated the stance of his White House crypto advisors on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, pushing back against bank lobbyists who had stalled the legislation. Trump stated that the White House would not allow banks to undermine the crypto market structure legislation, referring to the event as "the most exclusive conference in the world." The banking groups had recently swayed some senators with concerns about how U.S. regulations could pave the way for stablecoin rewards programs, potentially threatening traditional deposit accounts. However, Trump signaled that passing the legislation remains a priority. The event featured prominent crypto executives and investors, including Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, Ark Invest's Cathie Wood, and Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley, as well as boxer Mike Tyson. Trump also discussed foreign policy issues, including Iran, Venezuela, and NATO, which he described as a "paper tiger" that is "never there for us." Regarding the digital asset industry, Trump maintained his usual stance, stating, "We are the leader in crypto. It's become mainstream." The conference took place as Trump continues to support crypto ventures tied to his name, sparking both industry support and political scrutiny. His close personal connections to digital assets businesses have been a point of contention in passing the Clarity Act, with Democratic negotiators insisting that senior government officials, including the president, should be banned from profiting from the industry.
