DeFi Community Unites to Support Aave Users After Massive Crypto Hack

The decentralized finance world is witnessing an unprecedented level of cooperation in the aftermath of a significant crypto hack. Aave, a leading lending protocol, is at the forefront of a broad recovery effort following substantial losses linked to the Kelp DAO exploit. This initiative, dubbed 'DeFi United,' has garnered around $303 million in commitments as of Monday, according to its website, with much of the capital awaiting governance approval. The exploit has prompted a coordinated industry response, with many participants connected to DeFi through infrastructure, capital, or user access, working together to restore normal market conditions. Aave itself is central to the effort, with a governance proposal outlining a plan to allocate up to 250,000 ETH for recovery. Other key contributors include Consensys, which has committed up to 30,000 ETH, and various ecosystem participants, such as Lido, EtherFi, and Mantle, which have proposed or discussed significant contributions. The initiative has also drawn smaller contributions from across the community, with entities like Babylon Foundation, Renzo, and Circle Ventures providing deposits or purchasing AAVE tokens. The list of participants continues to grow, with many teams having long-standing relationships with Aave across the ecosystem. While not all contributions are structured the same way, the breadth of participation highlights the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi and the community's determination to support users and restore market stability.
