Bullish Seasonal Trends May Support Bitcoin's Uptrend Despite Current Caution
As April comes to a close, Bitcoin is adopting a cautious stance at $76,319.58, yet historical seasonal patterns indicate that any downturns may be short-lived, potentially setting the stage for an upward trajectory in the coming weeks. Historical data from 2013 onwards reveals that May typically favors the bulls, with the largest cryptocurrency experiencing gains in seven out of the past 13 years. Although the average return of about 8% is less pronounced compared to stronger months like October and November, it suggests a positive inclination. Following April's roughly 10% increase, the seasonal pattern implies that the broader uptrend may persist, supported by similar bullish trends in the S&P 500, which is currently hovering near record highs. The consecutive net monthly inflows into U.S.-listed spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) indicate robust institutional demand, bolstering the bullish case, with these ETFs attracting over $1.8 billion this month after March's $1.32 billion. Nonetheless, traders must remain vigilant regarding bond markets, where rising yields pose a challenge to risk assets. Analysts warn that despite the positive outlook, risks such as a global economic flare-up and the impact of rising yields on risk assets could hinder Bitcoin's progress. A potential bullish crossover in the 50-day and 100-day moving averages may signal further price gains, although the reliability of this indicator, particularly during bear markets, is mixed.
